2 – 2.5 pages (at least 600 words of text, excluding references), double-spaced. In this paper, I would like you to select a current (or recent) impactful public official–elected, appointed, or career, of either party or no party–and evaluate her or his use of government power in light of Dobel\’s (normative) conception of public integrity. In general, how well does she or he demonstrate the balancing required by \”the triangle of judgment\”? More specifically, how well (or poorly) does she or he display \”focal commitments of public integrity\” discussed on pp. 20-22 of Public Integrity? (Of course, she or he may realize some commitments better than others, or even realize some well and others not very well at all.) The more specific you can be in your illustrations, the better. Also, given the length of the paper, it may suffice for evaluation of your subject\’s integrity to consider fewer than all seven focal commitments (but do discuss at least 4). Given whom you select, some may be more relevant than others. And please cite your sources and make sure all quoted text is placed in quotes. A final (but important point): This paper calls for analysis, which requires some setting out of facts. However, be careful that your focus is analysis, not narrative (critical thinking, not storytelling).
