– What the previous research tells us? (Including the theoretical framework)

Choosen topic: A critical review of the UK’s Breed specific legislation
Proposed title: Dngerous dogs
Brief description:
This paper will provide a clear overview of the existing breed-specific dangerous dog legislation in the UK and will critically review some of its existing flaws by looking at its:
– Effects on dog owners
– Influence on society
– Effects on those dogs being criminalised
And will also look into the nature and nurture of those breeds categorised as dangerous, therefore the theoretical framework to be used are bilogical theories of crime (such as Lombrosso’s theory of crime) and social learning theories (such as Sutherland’s Differential Association Theory and/or Bandura’s social theory).
Research Questions:
– What impact do the UK Government legislations and Media portrayal of the ‘dangerous dog’ have on dog owners and society as a whole?
– What are the similarities and differences between those breeds labelled as ‘dangerous’ and those seen as ‘non-dangerous’?
– How labelling certain dog breeds may affect their socialization process?
(I will include some documents)
