The purpose of this study is to explore whether the nature of the currency exposure of emerging market multinational companies (EMNCs) changes between the pre-global financial crisis period (1995-2007) of hyper-globalization and the post-global financial crisis period (2008-2020) of gradual de-globalization. The following section explores the literature to establish the qualitative and quantitative differences between these two sub periods spanning from 1995-2007 to 2008-2020.The literature review is comprised of 1) an overview of economic crisis taxonomy; 2) an historical overview of pre- global financial crisis period economic conditions and post-global financial crisis period economic conditions; 3) the conceptual framework of associated foundational constructs and themes including organizational behavior, emerging market multinational companies, hyper-globalization, and de-globalization movements, and economic exposure; 4) the theory used to frame the study; and 5) the relevant empirical evidence.
